TruckerVerse Back to the game

Blocked In, a TruckerVerse puzzle

Privacy notice

Draft for review. This text is waiting for review by counsel before the public launch. Translations are convenience copies: until a translation has been reviewed, the English text prevails.

This notice explains what Blocked In processes about you, why, for how long, and what your rights are. It covers the three ways to play: as a professional driver with a TruckerVerse account, with a game account, and with "Just play", without any account. It covers the game at game.truckerverse.app, the start page at truckerverse.game and a test address we give our testers.

If the first screen of the game offers only "Just play" (on a new game, perhaps with the small link "I have a progress code", which reads a code on your phone and sends nothing), the online features are not switched on in the version you use. The game then sends us nothing that identifies you, apart from what every website receives: the host of the game, Netlify, Inc. (United States), our processor, processes technical connection data such as your IP address to deliver it (see "Who receives data"). In this early version the game itself sends nothing to TruckerVerse: no account, no results, no error reports and no answers to "Tell us what you think" in Settings (see "Error reports" and "Your opinion" below). "Write to us" only opens your email app. Your progress stays on your phone. Links you share carry only what "Help, relay and solution links" describes, and every link from the game to the TruckerVerse app carries how your phone first arrived (see "How you arrived"). We do not receive personal data from Netlify; we only see totals, such as the number of visits per day (see "Visits to our web addresses"). Only the parts of this notice about "Just play", these lines, the server logs and the host of the game, emails you send us and your phone apply.

  • No ads, no advertising trackers and no location. Visitor statistics with Google Analytics only if you tap Accept.
  • "Just play" needs no account and never sends your name, number or any other identifier.
  • An account is optional. A driver account is your TruckerVerse account; a game account is separate from the TruckerVerse app.
  • Your year of birth is checked on your phone and never sent.
  • We never sell your data and never share it for advertising.
  • The company field is optional and needs your consent. We never tell a company which driver named it.

1. Who is responsible

The controller is XS AI BV, Belgium, registered seat Fabriekstraat 38, 2547 Lint, enterprise number BE 1039.724.489.

Privacy questions and requests: hello@truckerverse.app.

Blocked In is part of TruckerVerse. If you play with a driver account, your TruckerVerse account is held by the TruckerVerse app of the same company; the app's own privacy notice on truckerverse.app covers what the app does with it.

2. What we process for each way to play

"Just play" (no account)

None of this includes your name, phone number, email address or an account identifier.

How you arrived. When a link to the game carries a campaign name (for example "landing" on the play link of our start page), the game keeps that name on your phone and sends it with a challenge you share and when you make an account. It names a link, never you. The game also keeps on your phone how it first arrived there, as one word from a fixed list (a link someone shared, a help, relay or solution link, the Insiders group, the TruckerVerse app, our start page, a social network, a paid advertisement, or directly), and every link from the game to the TruckerVerse app carries that word. It names a kind of link, never you or the person who shared it.

Links to the TruckerVerse app and shop. The start page of truckerverse.game also links to the website of the TruckerVerse app (truckerverse.app) and to the TruckerVerse shop (truckerverse.shop, which runs on Shopify). They are plain links: nothing is loaded from those sites until you tap one, and then their own privacy rules apply there. The link adds only three fixed campaign tags (utm_source, utm_medium and utm_campaign), the same for everyone, that say the visit came from this part of the Blocked In start page. Nothing about you is added.

Rankings and team score. When the game is connected to TruckerVerse, it asks our server at each start whether the rankings and the team score are open, and on the home screen it fetches the team score at most every 10 minutes. These requests carry no account and no identifier of your phone.

Level statistics (every way to play). When the game is connected to TruckerVerse, it counts for each level and each daily parking how many attempts were started, finished and started again, per game day, and sends these numbers in batches. A batch holds only the level or the day, the game day and the three numbers: no account, no identifier of your phone, no code, and it is sent without your sign-in. Our server adds them to totals per level and game day and does not keep your IP address with them. These totals are not linked to your account, your phone or your results. Until a batch is sent, the numbers wait on your phone.

Headlight flashes, coffee and the daily counts. If you clear a friend's challenge, help request or relay, you can flash your headlights, and a friend whose request you cleared can give you a coffee. Our server notes this on the anonymous open of that link, never with a name or an account; your friend sees only how many. Your phone asks our server, with the open's code, whether a coffee arrived. When you clear today's daily parking for the first time on this phone, or flash your headlights on it, the game sends the game day and a random number that our server keeps in its memory for at most two days, only so each counts once; to cap how often one network can count, our server also keeps a count per network address and day in its memory for at most two days, never in a table. The totals per day are kept without any identifier and shown in the game from 10 up.

Error reports (every way to play). When something goes wrong in the game, it sends a short report to the host of the game: the game version, a code for the place in the game where it happened, the type of error, a short fingerprint of the error message (not the message itself), the screen, whether the game is connected to TruckerVerse, the kind of browser (for example "iPhone, from the home screen") and the game day. At most five per visit. No name, no account, no identifier of your phone and no address of a page. In this early version this is switched off: the game sends no error reports.

Day line (switched off). Only once our legal review has confirmed it, the game sends one short line per day you played: the game day, how many days since your first day (in groups: 0, 1, 2 to 6, 7, 8 to 29, 30 and more), whether you played between 22:00 and 04:59, and in which of six parts of 4 hours of the day. No account, no identifier of your phone, sent without your sign-in. Our server adds it to totals and does not keep your IP address with them. Until then nothing is sent.

Your opinion (every way to play). When you answer "Tell us what you think" in Settings, the game sends one short line to the host of the game: your answer (good, OK or not great), the topic you chose (a level, a text or translation, or something else), the level or daily parking it is about if you chose a level, the language of the game and the game version. At most one answer per visit. No free text, no name, no account and no identifier of your phone. In this early version this is switched off: the game sends no answers.

Statistics with Google Analytics (only after you accept). By day, the home screen of the game and the start page show a small box about cookies for visitor statistics. Until you tap Accept, nothing goes to Google: no Google script is loaded, nothing is counted and no cookie is set. If you tap Decline, or never answer, it stays that way. If you tap Accept, the game loads Google Analytics 4 (Google Ireland Ltd.) and sets analytics cookies on your device. Google then receives your visit, the screens you open, the game's own counts (a session starts, a level or the daily parking is started or cleared, a share, and a few more of the same fixed list, each with a few fixed values such as the level number, the stars or the game language) and what every website receives: your IP address, which Google Analytics uses to work out your approximate region and does not store, and your browser and device type. It never receives your name, phone number, email address or account data. Shared-lot, help and relay codes are removed from the address before Google loads. In the game, between 22:00 and 04:59, the box does not appear and nothing is counted. Google keeps the data in our account for at most 14 months and may process it outside the EU under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. The basis is your consent (GDPR article 6(1)(a) and article 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive), which you can withdraw at any time: change my cookie choice removes your choice and the analytics cookies on this device. Advertising storage stays off and there is no advertising pixel.

Visits to our web addresses. For the game at game.truckerverse.app, we receive no personal data from Netlify, our host; we only see totals, such as the number of visits per day. We write no visit lines of our own.

When you write to us. If you email hello@truckerverse.app, for example with "Write to us" in Settings, we receive your email address, your message and anything you attach, and use them only to answer you. Our mailbox is hosted by Google.

A week that looks automated is ranked apart from the other players in the standings we keep for that week; nothing is shown next to your name and you keep your stars, coins and points.Legitimate interest, article 6(1)(f): rankings decided by people, not by scripts. 6. Who receives data

7. What is stored on your phone

The game stores your save and settings, the codes of challenges you sent and opened, the help and relay requests you sent (at most 100) and the ones you opened (at most 10), with the taps of a clear you can still send back, which new parts of the game you were already told about, whether the rankings tab was already shown, in which countries you already saw an ADR or reefer card from the TruckerVerse app, the game day of Lena's last line on a finish sheet, items waiting to be sent, the level statistics not sent yet (at most 200 lines, none older than 30 days), and, when you are signed in, a session token with a copy of your account (number, company, points), in your browser's local storage, and its own files in the offline cache. When the game is connected to TruckerVerse, it also keeps the codes of challenges you opened with their open codes (at most 50), the day this phone last counted a first clear of the daily parking, the day this phone last flashed its headlights on the daily parking, and which reply cards you closed (at most 50). Your choice about counting where you park (switched off), with the day you made it, the day the game last asked whether you are parked on the road (at most once a game day) and whether the game already offered it, is kept the same way. All of this is needed for the game you asked for. One item is not needed to play: how your phone first arrived at the game, one word from a fixed list, kept only so that links from the game to the TruckerVerse app say which kind of link brought you (see "How you arrived"). It holds no identifier, we can switch it off for everyone without an update, and Reset erases it. Your choice in the statistics box (Accept or Decline) is kept in your browser's local storage, so the box does not ask again; Google Analytics sets its own cookies only after you tap Accept. Other game events counted during a visit (not the level statistics) stay in the phone's memory and go only to Google Analytics, and only after you tap Accept. "Reset progress" in Settings (when signed out) erases your progress and play days, your best clear of each lot, the stars of your daily parkings, your relay marks, cups, Co-Driver pennants and convoy stamps (they are progress), the results waiting to be sent, the copy of the old save, the campaign name you arrived with, how your phone first arrived, the help and relay requests you opened, the name-board choice, the countries where you saw an ADR or reefer card from the TruckerVerse app, the day of Lena's last line, the day this phone last flashed its headlights on the daily parking, which reply cards you closed, your choice about counting where you park and the note on a sign-in through a link (below). It keeps your settings, your choice on the first screen, whether you already went through the first steps, whether the rankings tab was already shown, which TruckerVerse cards you were already shown, what the game already told you about, the codes of challenges you sent and opened, the open codes of the challenges you opened, the day this phone last counted a first clear of the daily parking, the help and relay requests you sent, the challenge that brought you, the other items waiting to be sent, the level statistics not sent yet and the day the new-player count was sent, if it was. Clearing the site data in your browser erases everything.

Before an update changes the format of your save, the game keeps one copy of the old save on your phone, until the next such update or until you reset. It also keeps a short copy of your language choice for a faster start, the last settings file of the game with the messages from it that you closed, and, for the length of a visit, the time it last installed an update. When the game runs from your home screen, it asks your browser not to clear this storage on its own. A progress code is made on your phone from your save and goes only where you paste it or send it yourself; when a friend's challenge brought you to the game, the code also holds that challenge's share code, so the invitation still counts in the game where you paste it.

The start page of truckerverse.game does not read anything the game keeps on your phone; it remembers on your phone only the choices you make on it, such as the language and the light or dark look. Nothing about it is sent. Your stars of each daily parking you played are kept on your phone with your progress.

When you sign in through a link, the game remembers on your phone for which account the question about what you played here is still open, or for which account you kept it on this phone, until you add it, sign in on this phone yourself, or reset.
